But I want classic feeling NFS game with immersion and cockpit view presentation of SHIFT2/Project Cars, which are unparalleled at this. The main problem with these games was fairly bad physics and lags, but other than that, I liked them. Interestingly enough, fairly close to my ideal was Test Drive Unlimited 1+2. New custom nonlicensed soundtrack by those same people as classic NFS gamesĪctual driving physics that is fun to driveīeautiful exotic locations to drive, inside classic cars NFS3 is required for any other NFS to load. Delete the folder of any NFS you do not have a copy of, else OpenNFS will complain that the folder is empty. The class and style of classic NFS games, with no social bullshit For NFS2, the GAMEDATA folder needs to be directly present under 'NFS2'. I just really wish EA made a Need for Speed game that had: And Criterion/Ghost did not improve things much - I did play and even finished Hot Pursuit 2010 and Most Wanted 2012, but their presentation sucks and they are pure arcades, not even a hint of actual physics. Also, they all had split screen ! On PC!Īfter NFS 5, EA delegated the brand to new Black Box studio, which apart from few decent games (Most Wanted and underrated The Run) made mostly stinkers with none of the class, style and charm of the old games. But first five NFS games under EA label were really amazing. These games were made by Distinctive Software - company co-founded by Don Mattrick (oh how the mighty has fallen!), which made Test Drive and Stunts before they were bought out by EA and renamed EA Canada. They had amazing, exotic locations and track designs, and classic car selection. They had custom music by incredibly talented electro + rock musician like Rom di Prisco and many others. These games had incredibly stylish, classy presentation (beautiful and functional menus, live action videos about cars, top notch graphics), they had, for the time, fairly nice physics (arcadey, but not overly so as late NFS games), they had IN-CAR VIEWS!!!, yes, even NFS 1 from 1995 had cockpit view and I LOVED IT. NFS 1 Special Edition, NFS2 SE, NFS 3 Hot Pursuit, NFS 4 High Stakes, Need for Speed Porsche. I absolutely loved early Need for Speed games.
